While riding the commuter train home ex-cop Michael MacCauley is approached by a mysterious woman who tasked him with uncovering which passenger doesn't belong and threatens the lives of his family and friends if he doesn't cooperate.
Neeson delivers a fairly good performance and is backed by a solid supporting cast that includes Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, and Sam Neill.
And, the directing style adds a lot of tension and intrigue to the film as MacCauley narrows down the suspects.
But the plot is rather formulaic and features a number of stock characters; a grizzled ex-cop, a femme fatale, an arrogant businessman.
Yet despite its weaknesses, The Commuter is an entertaining and exciting thriller. Dann M Super Reviewer. Oct 14, Again Neeson is a man in a desperate situation who soon teaches his tormentors that he is not to be messed with.
His character is somewhat more realistic than in some of the similar thrillers before, but several parts of the film require quite some suspension of disbelief.
The film uses its limited setting well enough for things not to get boring, of course even the trailer had to give away that there is a crash in the end.
Some of the supposed twists are not particularly surprising, but the film is entertaining enough not to make you regret being along for the ride.

Daca doriti, il puteti numi "Taken" intr-un tren. Actiunea si suspansul incep atunci cand o femeie, jucata seducator de Vera Farmiga se aseaza langa eroul nostru, si-i propune o oferta.
Oare si-ar dori Michael sa faca rost de Per ansamblu, divertisment bun. O secventa memorabila din film pe care si acum mi-o amintesc, lupta aceea de vreo minute facuta in multiple-takes si sa para un long-take in post-productie interesant modul de a filma, dar au fost si putine zoom-uri enervante pe actori in acel moment, de exemplu a aratat mult mai bine one-take-ul din Atomic Blonde, daca l-ai vazut.
Da, o scena foarte buna. Am vazut-o si pe cea din Atomic Blonde, am citit ca e pe acelasi format - multiple-takes sa para ca un long-take.

Filmul e prost facut, vor sa faca un fel de sfarsit european. N-au cum, ca nu sunt europeni. Nu se ridica nici pe departe la seria ,,Taken", asta pentru ca e vorba de acelasi actor.
Actiunea, daca poate fi numita actiune, este una intortocheata, fara o baza solida, si cu rasturnari de situatii eu le-am zis copilarii de 2 lei.
