Just have to say, I bought the movie mid cry after I finished watching it. I am so utterly baffled at the fact that I took so long to even watch the trailer of this movie and to be completely honest, it made my heart so warm and happy and that is really rare.

It's sweet, funny, poignant, corny, and in typical Sparks fashion, shamelessly tugs at the heartstrings. Benjamin Walker's Travis is annoyingly cocky, yet irresistibly endearing.
He's not your average Sparks drop you in your tracks attractive leading man a la Eastwood, Tatum, or Ephron, but has an abundance of soulful Southern charm and sweetness.
The first two thirds of the movie is as laid back and breezy as the coastal waterways which provide the sun dappled backdrop.
The third act is predictable, melodramatic, and requires a large dose of suspension of disbelief. Is this a good movie cinematically? Not by a long shot.
Is it a great movie for a rainy Sunday afternoon with a glass of wine that will hit all the 'feels'? I am the kind of person that doesn't mind cheesy romance or semi-predictable acting; that is because when I watch a love story I want it to be how I would dream of it.
This movie is like a lot of girls dreams about love, having someone fight for you and not giving up. Yes, the house seen in NC was a little rushed it seemed, but I still enjoyed it because he knew she loved him but she was scared of getting out of her "safe" relationship.
Love this love movie! I found myself pulled into this sweet, yet cheesy, love story. I didn't anticipate that.
Perhaps it was the setting of the waterfront s cottages and moss-covered trees that evoked feelings of another time. Maybe it was because of the unexpected and deep love these two expressed for each other that I've always wanted, but never really felt I had.
It is a story, yes, but it was beautiful in a strange way. I can't say that I hate it. I thought the cast was good. Is it just me, or does the main female character "Gabby" look like a blonde Kristen Stewart?
Totally off topic, but that's what I kept thinking for the entire movie. The Choice is corny, a little more predictable than some would prefer; but I don't think it was terrible.
I still think The Notebook is the best Nicholas Sparks movie, but this wasn't bad. If you like sappy sweet movies, that make you smile, then this is one to add to your collection.
In this cynical world that we live in sometimes it refreshing to watch a a movie that's just too sweet and too cheesy.
I liked the film. This is the story of two neighbors, Gabby and Taylor who get off on the wrong foot due to Taylor's loud parties and Gabby's need for quiet study as a medical student.
I think Taylor is an absolute ninny to Gabby at first. I wouldn't blame her if she never spoke to him again. I also think some of the content of their quibbling is a bit silly, some is very funny, and some of it is smug to quote the beautiful Gabby.
This movie like most of Spark's stories, is set against the beautiful North Carolina coastline. His stories are also integrated which is a pleasure to see.
The movie has great photography of the local bird life and woods, singular shots of the moon, and stunning sunsets.
Overall the film has a relaxed Sparks entourage, Gabby is involved with another man: the husky Ryan. They seem like a miss match, setting the stage for a breakup.
Ryan, a slightly possessive doctor goes out on assignment for a month. Taylor is a wise cracking womanizing veterinarian.
Taylor's smug humor has Gabby frustrated at first but his compassion for animals, his willingness to help Gabby's retriever, his love for fun, and his sensitive side slowly turn the tide for her.
The two of them begin a love affair by practically wrecking Gabby's kitchen. Did I say Gabby was beautiful?. Allow me to repeat myself.
She is the center of many scenes. Overall I think she did a good job. From there several events change their lives forever. The two are faced with impossible decisions ultimately leading to a final choice.
I have a couple of comments on the script: why do we see some of the ending scenes at the beginning? Sparks often deals with the more difficult side of life.
I think the painful break up between Gabby and Ryan is under played and should be an up front scene in the movie.
It is a critical choice. In fact for a time the movie blurs the whole break up until Ryan takes a swing at Taylor. All in all though, I loved this movie and watched it a few times.
I give it a high five. Sparks has a certain quality to his stories, simple and pulling at your strings. I love to sit back and get lost in Carolina.
In this case no guns, no bombs, no knives, no chase scenes, no villains, just heartfelt stories about people trying to find their way.
The Choice, like the rest of Sparks Movies is an absolutely refreshing change of pace. This is one to enjoy. I say go for it!
